Building and flying a model aircraft

At our school there is a wide range of clubs that run before school, at lunch times, and after school. These clubs include: handicraft, animation, bug, gardening, showstoppers, netball and football.

In one of these clubs we build and fly a model aircraft.

We start with instructions, plans, strips of balsa wood, a plastic propeller and a length of rubber.

We then follow the instructions to gradually build the model aircraft using a craft knife and glue. This takes several lunch times.

Once the aircraft are ready we take them to the school hall, wind up the propeller (50 turns to start with) and launch them. Sometimes they fly well straight away, but usually we need to trim them by adjusting the rudder and/or elevator and/or adding weight to the nose or tail. Once trimmed, we wind the propeller 75 turns, and the aircraft fly the full length of the hall. There are usually a few crashes as well!

science/ICT

Dear Russian Friends,
Recently in science we have been learning about tooth decay. In yesterdays lesson we were supposed to be presenting information about tooth decay on the computer, however the software wouldn't work, we had all sorts of problms for example:Log in's wouldn't function properly, it would say we had typed in a mistake; orit would allow us to log in and come up with a strange page that wasn't supposed to be there and when you clicked on internet explorer it would come up with an unusual message about internet connection failure. These problems meant that no-one was able to complete this task , however we still had fun!

Challenge Club

To our Russian friends,
Starting yesterday six of us went to challenge club! To start off with we had drinks to refresh us. We had to solve coded sentences, also we looked at different illusions. They were so cool! Do you have any exciting clubs at your school?

Netball Match and Practices

Dear Russian Freiends,
We have a netball match on Thursday against St.Marys. We played them at home last time and we won 2-1. Our next match will be away which means we will be going to their school. We have netball practice on Wednesday and that will be the first time this year. Do any of you enjoy playing netball?
